Greengate Power is focused on development of quality Wind Projects in Alberta and Ontario in areas with available transmission capacity. Many of Alberta and Ontario's best wind resources are located in areas that are transmission constrained, and require significant transmission system upgrades to exploit their potential resources. However, Greengate Power's portfolio of projects under development are in areas with strong wind resources, are geographically diverse, and are in transmission rich areas of Alberta and Ontario.

Red Deer Advocate – Wind Farm Proposed for Halkirk Area

Halkirk Wind Project - 300MW

The 300MW Halkirk Wind Project is being developed on approximately 25,000 acres of private land located in East Central Alberta 40km east of the Town of Stettler. The project is divided into two 150MW phases. Located in a wind swept area of Alberta consisting of flat cultivated land and grazing land, initial Microscale Modelling indicates a very good wind resource of approximately 7.5 m/s. The project is 10km from a 240kv transmission line with available capacity.
